On March 9th, TENCENT announced the official launch of its full-scenario AI agent, WorkBuddy. The product's capabilities are similar to OpenClaw, fully compatible with its skills but designed to be more user-friendly and secure. Without complex deployment procedures, users can download, install, and connect it to Enterprise WeChat in as little as one minute, enabling them to "remote control" this TENCENT version of the "little lobster" via mobile phone. TENCENT stated that WorkBuddy had been widely used internally prior to its public release. It is reported that in everyday office scenarios, over 2,000 TENCENT employees without technical backgrounds are already using WorkBuddy. It assists roles such as HR, administration, secretaries, operations, and sales by improving efficiency in areas like data processing and analysis, building local knowledge bases, content and copywriting creation, poster generation, and office automation. TENCENT's "AI Lobster" suite now consists of five "lobsters": the TENCENT version WorkBuddy, OpenClaw integrated with Enterprise WeChat, OpenClaw integrated with QQ, OpenClaw deployed on TENCENT Cloud's lightweight servers, and QClaw, which is currently in internal testing. Citi noted that the AI agent WorkBuddy, launched by TENCENT Cloud, could represent a significant shift in China from the current "chat AI" paradigm to an "execution AI" paradigm, holding considerable importance for the country's AI development landscape. The bank maintains a Buy rating on TENCENT with a target price of HKD 783. Analyst Alicia Yap pointed out in a report that WorkBuddy aims to be a "workplace AI assistant and a productivity tool accessible to everyone." Its broad accessibility to all users suggests that people's daily lives and work will undergo profound changes. WorkBuddy is fully compatible with the skills of the recently popular OpenClaw, and given TENCENT's consistent high priority on security, it also boasts enterprise-grade security and management capabilities. This development is a major milestone for TENCENT, providing a valuable real-world scenario for assessing the future integration and role of AI agents within its WeChat Mini Program ecosystem.
