Li Yunfei, General Manager of BYD Group's Brand and Public Relations Department, stated in a Weibo post today (November 20) that "Given BYD's current scale, we welcome objective criticism and factual reporting from the media. We can even accept misunderstandings or inaccurate reports due to lack of context. However, we will never tolerate malicious PR or media outlets that persistently target and defame BYD without basis."
On the same day, BYD's legal department announced that the company recently received a court ruling in its lawsuit against the account "Wang Wukong Shuo Che" (王悟空说车) and related parties for online infringement. The court ordered the defendants to issue a public apology to BYD in the People's Court Daily and pay compensation totaling 313,800 yuan.
The legal department clarified that the court found the defendants had made derogatory remarks about BYD's Fang Cheng Bao brand vehicles, damaging the brand's commercial reputation and constituting an infringement of BYD's rights.
BYD emphasized that while it respects and welcomes suggestions and oversight from all sectors, the internet is not a lawless space. The company will continue to use legal measures to protect its legitimate rights and interests against any form of defamation, false accusations, or smear campaigns.
