Insilico Medicine (abbreviated “Insilico”) has entered a strategic collaboration with Japan-headquartered biopharmaceutical group Takeda to apply Insilico’s end-to-end AI platform, Pharma.AI, to drug discovery projects across Takeda’s core therapeutic areas.

The agreement grants Takeda exclusive worldwide rights to develop, manufacture and commercialize drug candidates generated through the partnership. Insilico will conduct AI-driven discovery and early development, while Takeda will advance selected molecules through clinical validation.

Financial terms outline: • Insilico will receive approximately USD60 million in project-initiation fees, near-term payments and early milestones. • Total success-based pre-clinical, clinical, commercial and sales milestones could raise the overall deal value to about USD600 million. • Insilico is also entitled to tiered royalties on future sales of any approved products.

The collaboration aims to deliver novel, clinically differentiated therapeutics by combining Insilico’s AI and automation capabilities with Takeda’s global development infrastructure.
