As spring arrives, workers are intensively completing the final interior and exterior decoration stages of the Xiongan Workers' Cultural Palace in the Rongxi area of Xiongan New Area. Inside the workers' opera theater, technicians are installing stage lighting equipment; in the cinema, viewing seats have been successively installed; and in the swimming and fitness center, pool water testing has commenced. This new facility integrating theater performances, film screenings, and sports activities will bring cultural enrichment and health promotion into the daily lives of workers, establishing a new landmark for public services in Xiongan New Area.
Workers already occasionally stand in the auditorium during construction breaks to preview the future performance atmosphere. The entire theater features classically elegant décor with neatly arranged seats awaiting the inaugural performance. The venue can accommodate 500 people and meets requirements for folk opera performances, serving as a multifunctional theater capable of hosting professional shows. With a maximum stage opening of 16 meters wide, 13 meters deep, and 7 meters high, the proscenium can be adjusted for different opera styles. The inaugural performances will feature classic works by renowned Peking Opera artists, accompanied by thematic exhibitions and interactive activities.
The project's engineering department head reported conducting daily inspections across all buildings, meticulously checking every detail. Above ground, the cultural palace contains diverse spaces including the opera theater, cinema, swimming pool, multi-sport gymnasium, and fitness center. Underground facilities include parking and innovation workshops for workers, complemented by outdoor sports fields to comprehensively meet cultural and recreational needs.
Construction personnel who have been working on Xiongan projects since 2023 expressed anticipation for the cultural palace's opening, noting that while their work focuses on schools and residential buildings, their cultural life remains limited. They look forward to after-work activities including opera appreciation, movie screenings across five theaters (four accommodating 90 people and one 180 people), and basketball or badminton games.
Xiongan New Area has been developing a pattern integrating cultural development, sports empowerment, and industrial growth, continuously upgrading urban functions through cultural and sports prosperity to provide diverse entertainment for relocated enterprises and residents. The cultural palace will serve as a key component of Xiongan's public cultural service system, complementing other cultural and sports centers to form a comprehensive network for worker services. It will function not only as a primary venue for recreational activities but also as a training ground for skill enhancement, a safeguard for rights protection, and a platform for cultural exchange.
The facility will feature a workers' bookstore incorporating Xiongan's cultural characteristics, containing collections including works from the Lotus Lake literary school. It will coordinate with Xiongan Library and other local bookstores to create evening learning spaces for workers. Various night school courses will also be offered to help workers gain knowledge and improve skills after working hours.
