Official statistics from Xiamen Customs indicate that during the January-August period, Fujian's imports from ASEAN reached 107.58 billion yuan, a 17% year-on-year increase. This record-breaking value for the period marks the fifth consecutive month of double-digit import growth and surpasses the 100-billion-yuan threshold a full month earlier than last year.

Private enterprises have further solidified their role as a key pillar of foreign trade. In the first eight months, private firms in Fujian imported 63.57 billion yuan from ASEAN, representing a robust 38.4% jump and accounting for more than half of the province's total ASEAN-bound imports during this timeframe.

Indonesia stands as Fujian's primary source market within the ASEAN bloc. Imports from Indonesia hit 57.63 billion yuan in the period, contributing to 53.6% of Fujian's aggregate import value from ASEAN. A diversified growth pattern is evident across key categories, including agricultural and mechanical/electrical products.

Specifically, agricultural imports from ASEAN amounted to 15.52 billion yuan, representing 14.4% of the total. Concurrently, imports of mechanical and electrical products surged by an impressive 82% to reach 14.99 billion yuan, constituting 13.9% of the overall import figure.
