Shares of James Hardie Industries (ASX: JHX) surged 5.05% during intraday trading on Friday, as investors cheered the company's robust first-quarter results and an upgraded full-year outlook that comfortably exceeded market expectations.

The building products maker reported a 54% jump in adjusted net income to $209.3 million for the three months ended June 30, handily beating analyst estimates. Net sales soared 64% to $1.47 billion, fueled by a return to volume growth in its core North American fiber cement business and the first full-quarter contribution from the AZEK acquisition. Buoyed by the strong performance, management raised its fiscal 2027 guidance, now projecting net sales of $5.56 billion to $5.72 billion and adjusted EBITDA of $1.54 billion to $1.63 billion—both ahead of consensus forecasts.

CEO Aaron Erter emphasized that the outperformance was driven by disciplined execution, synergy gains from the AZEK integration, and strategic growth initiatives, rather than any meaningful recovery in the underlying U.S. housing market. The company also reaffirmed its free cash flow target of at least $500 million for the year, underscoring confidence in its operational momentum.
