At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Volcano Engine introduced a new generation of automotive AI solutions based on the Agentic AI architecture. The solutions include an AI cockpit suite package and the Doubao Cockpit Assistant solution.
During the launch event, Tan Dai, President of Volcano Engine, revealed the latest achievements in the automotive sector. Currently, Volcano Engine collaborates with 100% of mainstream automakers to drive AI innovation. The number of smart vehicles equipped with the Doubao large model has surpassed 7 million, covering more than 50 automotive brands and 145 vehicle models. The Doubao model completes over 30 million daily cockpit interactions and service transactions.
Unlike the "turn-based" interaction mode of traditional chatbots, Agentic AI possesses autonomous driving capabilities, enabling real-time environmental perception, feedback reception, and continuous self-learning and iterative improvement. In the new automotive AI solutions, Volcano Engine integrates three core engines—dialogue reasoning, goal-driven, and learning growth—into a unified "automotive brain." The dialogue reasoning engine facilitates natural, human-like communication, moving beyond cold, mechanical Q&A exchanges. The goal-driven engine autonomously utilizes in-vehicle tools based on task objectives and environmental feedback, enabling action-oriented performance. The learning growth engine continuously accumulates experience and enhances its capabilities through ongoing processes.
Yang Liwei, Vice President of Volcano Engine, stated that the company will focus on Agentic AI technology to expand the capabilities of AI cockpits in partnership with automakers. It will offer diversified cooperation models to meet the varying implementation needs of different manufacturers.
The AI cockpit suite solution provides flexible output options tailored to automaker requirements: it can deliver the underlying capabilities of the Doubao large model to help automakers build their own AI functionalities; it can offer the complete set of three engines for seamless integration with vehicle functions and comprehensive knowledge systems; or it can provide Volcano Engine’s interactive, tool-based, and ecosystem agents. For those adopting the full AI brain, a dedicated operational platform is available for task configuration and agent management.
The Doubao Cockpit Assistant solution is a complete product-level offering. It deeply integrates vehicle capabilities through a unified automotive "brain" and interconnects with the mobile Doubao app for co-evolution of features. Mass production of cooperative vehicle models is expected within the year.
