The 2025 World Table Tennis China Grand Slam will be held in Beijing on September 25th. On September 23rd, it was learned from Meituan, the official supplier of the tournament, that Meituan will establish a themed online local lifestyle main venue. Addressing consumers' diverse needs during the event for "dining, accommodation, travel, entertainment, shopping, and recreation," the platform will set up specialized sections for "food, travel, consumption, and experiences," while distributing approximately 5 million yuan in various coupons.
"Sports + Tourism," "Entertainment + Cuisine"... service consumption scenarios represented by the integration of commerce, travel, culture, and sports are becoming new growth drivers for economic and social development. During the ongoing 2025 China Open tennis tournament, Meituan, as a market promotion partner, launched a series of consumption-boosting measures and tens of millions in discounts, leveraging the consumption-driving effects of sporting events through activities like "Sports + Tourism" and "Sports + Cuisine."
For example, targeting out-of-town tourists coming to Beijing for matches, from September 10th to October 5th, users can search for "China Open Free Viewing" through the Meituan app and select hotel packages with "China Open Enjoyment Ticket" benefits, with users receiving 2 China Open Enjoyment Tickets each night.
The consumption boom driven by the integration of culture, commerce, travel, and sports is becoming a new consumption trend. The previously released "Several Policy Measures on Expanding Service Consumption" mentioned encouraging localities to explore new online-offline integrated consumption models, such as "Tourism + Culture + Sports" complexes, providing consumers with immersive and diversified service experiences.
Meituan data shows that since 2024, Meituan has expanded into over 200 service retail subdivisions including parent-child, beauty, sports and fitness sectors, establishing partnerships with 6.3 million merchants, with online order volume growing 77% year-over-year.
"Service retail formats are accelerating online-offline integrated development, with dining, leisure entertainment, tourism, accommodation and other formats within the same region and commercial district organically coordinating, injecting new momentum into the vitality of the service consumption market," said a relevant Meituan representative.
