During the golden autumn season, as the annual harvest period arrives, CHINA MOBILE Jiangsu Company’s Lianyungang Branch (referred to as "Lianyungang Mobile") organized its "Mobile Family" volunteer team to visit paired assistance villages. The initiative, named "Autumn Harvest Aid," aimed to support elderly residents and households facing labor shortages by helping them overcome practical challenges during the harvest, demonstrating care through tangible actions.
In one of the villages, volunteers met 60-year-old Uncle Li, whose children work away from home, leaving him struggling to dry his soybeans due to a lack of labor. Upon learning of his situation, the volunteers immediately took up farming tools and worked together at his threshing ground—some turning the bean stalks, others spreading them out—quickly arranging the crops evenly. Despite their sweat-soaked clothes, their enthusiasm remained high, creating a lively scene of collective effort. "Thank you so much. Without your help, I wouldn’t have known what to do," Uncle Li said gratefully, smiling as he looked at the neatly spread soybeans.
During breaks, the volunteers chatted with Uncle Li and patiently taught him how to use smartphone functions like WeChat, video calls, and weather forecasts, addressing common difficulties faced by elderly users. They also explained prevalent communication scams in simple terms, using real-life examples to raise awareness and help villagers safeguard their finances.
This volunteer initiative not only resolved immediate farming challenges but also strengthened ties between the company and local communities. A Lianyungang Mobile representative stated that the company would continue fulfilling its social responsibilities by organizing diverse volunteer activities tailored to public needs, embodying its "Heart-Level Service" philosophy to contribute to rural revitalization.
