The 2025 National Science and Technology Awards were presented in Beijing on the morning of July 8, recognizing a total of 258 projects and 11 scientific experts. Among these, numerous achievements from Shaanxi province were honored.

Statistics show that Shaanxi received awards for 36 achievements, including one International Science and Technology Cooperation Award, placing the province among the national leaders in terms of award count. The province took the lead on 12 projects: one First Prize for Technological Invention, two Second Prizes for Natural Science, and nine Second Prizes for Scientific and Technological Progress. It also participated in completing another 24 projects.

High-level research universities served as the main force behind major scientific breakthroughs. Northwestern Polytechnical University led four award-winning projects, followed by Xidian University with three, and Xi'an Jiaotong University, the Air Force Medical University, and Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology each leading one.

The independent innovation capabilities of research institutes are increasingly strengthening. The China Aircraft Strength Research Institute and CCTEG Xi'an Research Institute each took the lead on projects that won a National Second Prize for Technological Invention and Scientific and Technological Progress, respectively.

This year, the province achieved breakthroughs in the Technological Invention Award and the International Cooperation Award. The project "Extraordinary Modulation Technology and Scientific Experiment System for High-Temperature Metal Materials under Extreme Space Conditions," led by Academician Wei Bingbo's team at Northwestern Polytechnical University, won the 2025 National First Prize for Technological Invention. Addressing major national strategic needs, the project solved a series of critical core technical challenges in space material preparation and forming, propelling China's space materials science to the global forefront and leading international development in the science of extraordinary solidification of metallic materials, with significant international impact.

Professor Artem Oganov, a Russian national who has dedicated two decades to Sino-Russian scientific collaboration, was awarded the 2025 International Science and Technology Cooperation Award. His work with the Northwestern Polytechnical University team on developing a high-temperature-resistant self-healing ceramic system achieved a breakthrough in China's application of ultra-high-temperature key materials and made important contributions to scientific cooperation and exchange in materials genome engineering.

Furthermore, Shaanxi's scientific and technological prowess contributed to 24 other award-winning projects. These include the Special Prize for Scientific and Technological Progress for the "Fendouzhe Manned Submersible for Full Ocean Depth," and First Prizes for projects such as the "Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Radio Telescope (FAST)," "Key Technologies, Complete Equipment, and Engineering Application of Flexible DC Grids," and "Key Technologies and Application of China's Civil Aviation Satellite-Based Navigation Operation System."

Among these, 12 enterprises from the province participated in the completion of projects, including Baoti Co., Ltd., XD Electric, Xi'an PERI Co., Ltd., and AVIC Xi'an Aircraft Industry Group Company Limited Commercial Aircraft.
