Recently, the China National Intellectual Property Administration unveiled the list of awardees for the 26th China Patent Award. Two companies based in Tongxiang, Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt Co., Ltd. and Zhenshe Huafeng (Zhejiang) Carbon Fiber Materials Co., Ltd., were both honored with the China Patent Excellence Award. Notably, these are the only two enterprises from Jiaxing to receive this recognition this year.
The China Patent Award stands as the highest-level government honor in the nation's patent sector. Jointly organized by the China National Intellectual Property Administration and the World Intellectual Property Organization, it is often hailed as the "Oscar of China's patent world."
Huayou Cobalt's winning patent, titled "Method for Enriching Valuable Metals from Sulfate Solutions Containing Valuable Metal Ions," is deeply rooted in the new energy materials sector. This innovation drives the green, low-carbon, efficient, and high-quality development of the new energy industry. The patent effectively resolves a long-standing industry challenge: the difficulty in separating calcium sulfate from valuable metal hydroxides. Furthermore, it cuts costs and boosts the recovery rate of valuable metals. Leveraging this patented advantage, Huayou Cobalt has implemented the technology in its Indonesian projects, including the Huayue project with an annual output of 60,000 tons of nickel metal MHP (Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate) and the Huafei project with an annual capacity of 120,000 tons of nickel metal MHP. These applications have significantly enhanced production efficiency, reduced expenses, and generated substantial economic returns.
The winning patent from Zhenshe Huafeng, titled "A Pultrusion Profile," focuses on the advanced carbon fiber materials sector, effectively bolstering the core competitiveness of high-end new material products. With independent implementation as its core strategy, this patent has enabled a seamless transition from technological research and development to large-scale industrial application. Thanks to this technology, the parent company has maintained the world's leading global market share for wind turbine blade substrates for seven consecutive years, with a customer network that comprehensively covers the top ten wind turbine manufacturers worldwide. The company has also proactively engaged in patent licensing operations to unlock the technology's value. This approach not only ensures standardized technical application but also achieves efficient synergy between core technology and resources from affiliated enterprises, assisting licensees in rapidly mastering core production techniques.
Intellectual property is an asset, and the awarded patents this time all concentrate on key core technologies within their respective industries, showcasing the robust innovation strength of Tongxiang enterprises. In recent years, the Tongxiang Municipal Market Supervision Administration has prioritized high-quality intellectual property development as a core driver for empowering industrial transformation and upgrading, as well as boosting the quality and efficiency of the real economy. Focusing on key advantageous industries such as new energy and new materials, the administration has systematically advanced the full-chain efforts in cultivating, mining, planning, and commercializing high-value patents.
Simultaneously, it continues to refine the intellectual property support policy framework, precisely aligning with corporate innovation needs. Regular on-site visits and targeted services are provided to encourage enterprises to tackle technical bottlenecks and challenges within their industries. The administration also guides companies to increase research and development investment in core technologies and critical tracks, thereby strengthening their competitive edge through scientific and technological innovation.
Looking ahead, the Tongxiang Municipal Market Supervision Administration will persist in deepening the city's intellectual property strength-building initiatives. It aims to continuously optimize the high-value patent cultivation system, reinforce the comprehensive empowerment of intellectual property creation, protection, and application, and foster deeper integration between intellectual property and industrial growth. Through these efforts, the administration seeks to fuel the city's high-quality economic development with outstanding innovation outcomes.
