Market Regulator Summons Seven Platforms to Curb Inward-Competition

The State Administration for Market Regulation held talks with platform enterprises including Alibaba, Douyin, Baidu, Tencent, JD.com, Meituan, and Taobao Quick Purchase on February 13. The regulator urged the platforms to strictly comply with laws and regulations such as the Anti-Unfair Competition Law, the Price Law, the Consumer Rights Protection Law, and the E-commerce Law. It called on the companies to proactively fulfill their primary responsibilities and further standardize promotional activities. The administration reminded relevant platform enterprises to eliminate all forms of inward-rolling competition, jointly maintain a fair market environment, and promote innovation and healthy development in the platform economy.
