KONTA CHINA (01312) announced its interim results for the six months ended June 30, 2025. The group recorded revenue of HK$453 million, representing a decrease of 1.3% year-over-year. The company reported a shareholders' loss of HK$282 million, compared to a profit of HK$4.745 million in the same period last year, marking a shift from profit to loss. Basic loss per share was 5.06 HK cents.
According to the announcement, the group's significant increase in net loss was primarily attributed to a series of changes in the performance of the franchise operations within the group's fitness business. Due to uncertain economic outlook and intensified competition, business recovery has been slower than expected. Additionally, the group's associate company operating franchise business in Taiwan faced operational difficulties and funding constraints, resulting in expected credit losses on financial assets of approximately HK$159 million under the expected credit loss model (2024: approximately HK$25.5 million), impairment losses on intangible assets of approximately HK$124 million (2024: approximately HK$13.6 million), and goodwill impairment losses in the fitness business segment of approximately HK$88.4 million (2024: nil).
