In October 2025, China's pickup truck market sales reached 48,000 units, marking a 12% year-on-year increase and a 5.5% month-on-month growth, remaining at a mid-to-high level over the past five years. From January to October 2025, cumulative pickup truck sales stood at 481,000 units, up 11.4% year-on-year.
Production in October 2025 totaled 48,000 units, rising 12.3% year-on-year. Cumulative production for the first ten months of the year reached 475,000 units, reflecting a 15.3% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
Great Wall Motor (601633.SH) continues to dominate the pickup truck sector with stable performance both domestically and internationally. Supported by sustained export growth, companies such as Great Wall Motor, SAIC Maxus, Zhengzhou Nissan, Chongqing Changan Automobile (000625.SZ), and Jianghuai Automobile delivered strong results.
In the domestic retail market, Great Wall Pickup, Jiangling Motors, Zhengzhou Nissan, and Jiangxi Isuzu performed well, maintaining the "one leader, three strong players" competitive landscape. Key demand regions for pickup trucks remain concentrated in the southwest and northwest.
Exports in October 2025 surged to 26,800 units, up 27% year-on-year and 22% month-on-month, maintaining a high share of industry exports. From January to October, total exports reached 236,000 units, growing 19% year-on-year. In 2024, exports accounted for 45% of total pickup truck sales, rising to 56% in October 2025 and 51% for the first ten months of the year, indicating a steady increase in overseas shipments of Chinese-brand pickups.
The new energy pickup segment saw robust growth, with October sales hitting 5,700 units, a 138% year-on-year jump and a 31% month-on-month increase. Cumulative sales from January to October reached 59,000 units, surging 382% year-on-year, outpacing the overall pickup market growth. Electrification has become a key driver for commercial vehicles to gain road access rights, particularly amid soaring demand for electric light trucks.
Notably, BYD COMPANY (01211) exported 3,416 pickup trucks overseas in October, while Geely’s Radar EV pickup sold 1,008 units. Chongqing Changan Automobile’s extended-range pickup contributed 553 units, and Zhengzhou Nissan sold 513 units. Other manufacturers also recorded notable sales in the new energy pickup segment.
With the domestic new energy pickup market gaining momentum and gradual market cultivation, China’s pickup truck industry is expected to accelerate development to meet growing domestic and international demand.
