Baitu Town, located in Jurong, has been officially named in the 2026 provincial-level farmland protection incentive list announced by the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Natural Resources.

This selection follows the evaluation process carried out under the Jiangsu Province Farmland Protection Compensation and Incentive Interim Measures, which was conducted jointly by the provincial department and municipal natural resources authorities across the region.

Jiangsu is encouraging local governments to leverage land remediation projects as a platform, pooling new fees and land sale revenues earmarked for agricultural development, farmland reclamation fees, and land reclamation fees. These funds are to be invested collectively in key areas for large-scale renovation.

The initiative aims to maximize the overall efficiency of funding, effectively strengthen farmland protection, and promote the comprehensive utilization of land resources. These efforts are designed to enhance food security capabilities, drive coordinated urban-rural development, and contribute significantly to rural revitalization.
