A KC-135 refueling aircraft involved in a military operation against Iran crashed in western Iraq on Thursday afternoon after an incident with another aircraft, according to the US Central Command.
The Central Command stated in a release that the crash was "not the result of enemy fire or friendly fire" and occurred in "friendly airspace," with rescue operations underway. The statement noted that the other aircraft involved landed safely but did not disclose the status of the KC-135's crew.
