In early autumn across Wuzhou's vast landscape, neatly arranged farmlands with interconnected irrigation systems can be seen everywhere. Standardized planting bases flourish with lush crops, while agricultural processing workshops buzz with machinery and robust production and sales activities. Wherever one looks, promising harvest scenes unfold, painting a vibrant agricultural prosperity across the city.
Since the beginning of this year, Wuzhou has taken the "Ten Million Project" experience as guidance, focusing on agricultural production, maintaining the baseline of preventing large-scale return to poverty, and coordinating key tasks including food security, industrial upgrading, and rural construction, delivering impressive results in the "three rural issues" sector. In the first half of the year, the city's primary industry value-added grew by 4.9% year-on-year, with rural residents' per capita disposable income reaching 9,680 yuan, continuously narrowing the urban-rural income gap.
**Stable and Increased Production of Grain and Important Agricultural Products**
During mid-to-late July, the golden season for early rice harvest in Wuzhou, harvesters moved back and forth across the fields. In Shuanggui Village, Guiyi Town, Cenxi City, harvesters shuttled continuously through rice fields. Amid the roar of machinery, plump rice ears were fed into the machines, with threshed grain flowing through conveyor belts into storage compartments while straw was crushed and returned to the fields.
Farmer Li Jie said: "This year, under technical guidance, I planted nearly 80 acres using high-quality varieties, employing soil-testing formula fertilization and increased density to expand production capacity. Per-unit yield increased by more than 50 kilograms compared to last year, with each acre producing over 500 kilograms."
Food security is fundamental to national stability. This year, the city has thoroughly implemented the strategy of storing grain in land and technology, solidly advancing grain production tasks, and maintaining three baselines: food security, farmland protection, and preventing large-scale return to poverty, using agricultural stability as the foundation for overall city stability.
"Mastering the eight-character formula of 'good seeds, good methods, good machinery, good systems' builds a solid foundation for grain production increases," said a relevant official from the Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau. Wuzhou has focused on large-scale balanced grain and oil production increases, conducting citywide spring farming preparation guidance services, strengthening agricultural supply and machinery coordination, actively mobilizing cooperatives and large-scale grain growers to participate in grain production, and addressing winter-spring drought conditions.
Since the beginning of this year, the city has allocated over 26 million yuan for production self-rescue through water resource scheduling, artificial rainfall enhancement, drought-resistant technical services, and other comprehensive measures, effectively ensuring agricultural production safety. The city completed early rice planting across 802,000 acres, with large-scale grain planting exceeding 30,000 acres. To date, early rice harvesting work has been completed citywide.
**Specialty Agriculture Clusters Generate Strong Vitality**
Recently, entering the multi-story silkworm houses in Gupai Village, Xihe Town, Mengshan County, visitors see multi-level breeding racks where silkworms feast on mulberry leaves. Compared to traditional silkworm houses, the multi-story breeding model achieves efficient utilization of space and resources.
Large-scale silkworm farmer Xu Zhiqiang said: "This 1,440-square-meter silkworm house has the production capacity to raise 50 batches of silkworms annually and harvest 8 batches of cocoons, with expected total annual output value exceeding 1.2 million yuan."
This year, Wuzhou has steadfastly promoted specialty agriculture development for rural prosperity, fully advancing specialty agricultural industry foundations to higher levels with more modernized industrial chains. Through actively creating industrial development demonstration benchmarks, boldly exploring smart agriculture development models, comprehensively coordinating modern agricultural industry system construction, and solidly implementing agricultural industry projects, the city is driving facility agriculture toward standardization, scaling, intensification, and intelligence.
In the first half of the year, the city added one China Beautiful Leisure Village and two national-level strong agricultural industry towns, with integrated industrial development entering the fast track.
To continuously release the efficiency of stable production and supply of important agricultural products, Wuzhou has used key projects as leverage, building and operating facility vegetable bases including Tengxian Village Investment leek yellow, Cenxi Anping Town leek flowers, and Wanxiu Huashunda vegetables, covering over 8,000 acres. The city is accelerating construction of Wen's poultry, Lihua broiler, and Haihe pig farming projects, driving improvements in large-scale livestock and poultry farming levels.
The number of various large-scale livestock and poultry farms has grown rapidly. In the first half of this year, the city's pig contract farming, large-scale cattle farming, and large-scale sheep farming operations increased by 25%, 8%, and 11% respectively year-on-year.
**Beautiful Rural Construction Enhances Residents' Happiness**
Crystal-clear rivers, white-walled and gray-tiled buildings, clean and tidy courtyards, spacious and convenient pedestrian bridges... Walking into Mushuang Village, Mushuang Town, Cangwu County, fresh greenery greets visitors everywhere, with distinctive cultural walls decorating the village.
"The village environment has improved, and everyone consciously maintains the village's cleanliness, working together to build a beautiful home," said villager Chen Yiwen. The village has not only widened village roads but also built a 4.5-meter-wide convenient bridge at the village entrance, allowing residents to travel daily without detours, saving considerable time.
This year, Wuzhou has actively promoted beautiful rural construction, continuously improving rural governance levels, creating a new pattern of co-construction, co-governance, and sharing, with residents' happiness and sense of achievement growing daily.
According to Municipal Agriculture and Rural Affairs Bureau officials, in the first half of the year, the city invested 284 million yuan, implementing 668 rural infrastructure projects for the 2025 rural construction action, with 571 projects already underway.
From the vast fertile fields of "storing grain in land" to the diverse industries of "storing wealth among people," from the pleasant scenery of "harmonious and beautiful villages" to the collaborative new chapter of "urban-rural integration," Wuzhou is striding forward with vigor, fully pursuing the bright future of agricultural and rural modernization.
