On the evening of January 26, Tencent held its 2025 annual staff meeting this afternoon. Pony Ma, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Tencent, delivered a summary and review of the work performed by various business units throughout 2025.

Regarding WXG (WeiXin Group), Ma Huateng described WeChat as the cornerstone of Tencent, carrying high expectations. He noted that businesses like Channels and WeChat E-commerce each possess their own growth logic and trajectories. The key is to continuously upgrade by leveraging their unique characteristics to harness new technologies, which requires ample time, patience, and well-considered actions.

The businesses under IEG (Interactive Entertainment Group) reached new heights while expanding its evergreen titles and overseas presence. Ma attributed this success to the team's relentless innovation and learning, introducing new gameplay and consistently producing high-quality content, which facilitated an evolutionary transformation. The concept of "evergreen" games has gained recognition from many industry partners, as companies move away from the old model of incessantly developing new games and instead focus on innovating and expanding within platform-based games. Concurrently, Tencent Games is empowering its overseas invested companies to enhance their capabilities as it expands globally.

For the PCG (Platform and Content Group), which oversees numerous businesses, this year involved actively exploring AI integration capabilities. QQ became more focused, heeding user feedback to bring back popular legacy products like QQ Show and QQ Farm. QQ Show was further integrated with AI capabilities, allowing users to upload their own materials to generate images. Tencent News remained committed to high-quality informational content and explored using AI to enhance users' information browsing efficiency. The MyApp platform developed new scenarios, enabling many Android mobile apps to run seamlessly on the Windows PC operating system, a feature that also received praise from Microsoft. Tencent Video utilized its multi-modal AI capabilities and, through collaboration with China Literature, accelerated the adaptation of more proprietary IP content into film and television productions.

"In the future, people's time will become increasingly precious. Helping users save time and improve efficiency is very important, and this is also a key consideration for how our products can integrate AI to provide assistance," Ma Huateng stated.

Regarding the advertising and financial technology payment businesses, Ma Huateng expressed that with the boost from AI, Tencent's advertising revenue is growing rapidly. However, its revenue proportion remains relatively low compared to the industry average, indicating vast potential for future commercial development. The Financial Technology unit (FiT) does not prioritize speed, continuing to uphold security as its foremost principle.

Concluding his address, Ma Huateng encouraged employees, stating that 2026 will be another year of hard work. He expressed hope that everyone will continue to strive, continuously evolve based on their own characteristics, and continually master new skills, affirming that the future prospects are certainly bright.
