Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group has reported a 3.1% y-o-y increase in passenger traffic for the month of May 2025, slightly ahead of the increase in passenger capacity of 2.8%.
The group’s passenger load factor (PLF) increased by 0.3 percentage points (ppt) y-o-y to 86.4%, with SIA and Scoot posting monthly PLFs of 85.2% and 91.0% respectively.
The two airlines carried a combined total of 3.4 million passengers, 6.3% higher than last year.
Cargo loads rose by 4.2% y-o-y, higher than the 2.9% expansion in cargo capacity.
As a result, cargo operations posted a load factor of 57.2%, 0.7 ppts higher y-o-y.
During the month, cargo demand was supported by front-loading activity, in anticipation of growing uncertainty in the global trade environment.
At the end of May 2025, the group’s passenger network covered 128 destinations in 36 countries and territories.
SIA served 78 destinations, while Scoot served 72 destinations. The cargo network comprised 132 destinations in 37 countries and territories.
Shares in SIA closed 7 cents lower, or 1.009% down, at $6.87 on June 16.
