5月16日，美国消息人士称，五角大楼正在为恢复对伊朗的军事行动做准备，美国和以色列最早可能在下周恢复对伊朗的军事打击。
美方消息称，目前谈判陷入僵局，美国总统特朗普15日重申，伊朗就结束战争提出的方案“不可接受”，不过特朗普尚未就下一步行动做出决定。
消息显示，多位美国官员透露，如果美国决定对伊朗恢复军事打击，选项之一是对伊朗军事和基础设施目标进行更猛烈的轰炸；另一个选项是让特种作战部队地面进入，以获取伊朗的核材料。数百名特种作战部队人员已于3月抵达中东。
但美国官员承认，这一选项伴随着巨大风险。此外，自4月初停火以来，美国已为该地区的战舰和战机重新配备了弹药。 (央视新闻)
