EHang Holdings Limited (NASDAQ: EH) has announced the successful completion of the EH216-S autonomous passenger-carrying electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft's first public flight in Hong Kong, which took place at Cyberport.
This demonstration marks the first public flight display since the Hong Kong SAR government launched the "Regulatory Sandbox X" pilot program for the low-altitude economy in mid-August. It represents a significant milestone in the development of the Greater Bay Area's low-altitude three-dimensional transportation network and its routine operational validation.
During the flight, the EH216-S ascended smoothly from the Cyberport waterfront launch point, completing vertical takeoff, low-altitude cruising, and hovering maneuvers along a pre-set route. The aircraft showcased exceptional flight stability and fully autonomous operational control capabilities throughout the demonstration.
From August 28 to 30, the EH216-S will conduct multiple public flight sessions at Cyberport, further testing and demonstrating the system's reliability and safety assurance in routine, high-frequency operational scenarios. EHang is currently collaborating with Kwoon Chung Bus Holdings' Smart Mobility Limited and Cyberport Management Company Limited to advance commercial preparations for the project.
The EH216-S is a pure electric multi-rotor eVTOL with a maximum takeoff weight of 650kg, a top speed of 130km/h, and a flight range of up to 30km.
