Starting the Same Year, Retiring Together: Two 'Sisters' from JD Logistics Xinjiang Frontline Loss Prevention Team Retire

They were once strangers to each other: one came from Hegang, Heilongjiang, and the other traveled from Zhangye, Gansu. Over 20 years ago, they each left their hometowns and headed to Xinjiang. At JD Logistics' Urumqi warehouse in Xinjiang, they joined the same team in the same year, evolving from strangers to close companions who became like "sisters." In 2025, these two frontline loss prevention "sisters" retired simultaneously, removing their work badges and embracing the next chapter of their lives.

During their decade-plus tenure at JD Logistics, they witnessed the transformation of Xinjiang's logistics industry and achieved their own life transformation from drifting outsiders to people who put down roots in Xinjiang. Thanks to JD Logistics' comprehensive "five insurances and one fund" benefits provided to frontline employees, they now receive monthly pension payments, ensuring a more secure retirement. This bond forged over more than ten years of working side by side has found its most solid foundation.

**Joining JD Logistics in the Same Year**

In 2000, Chen Huaxiang followed her husband from Zhangye, Gansu to Xinjiang. Without formal education or special skills, she took on various odd jobs: carrying bricks at construction sites, serving in restaurants, weeding in fields, and picking melons in greenhouses. "When doing odd jobs, I never thought about social insurance. Getting even a minor illness made me very anxious." She also worked at other companies afterward, but none provided stability. It wasn't until she learned that JD Logistics was hiring in Urumqi and successfully joined that she gradually felt she was building a stable life in Xinjiang.

Three months after Chen Huaxiang joined, Song Limei from Northeast China also entered JD Logistics' Urumqi warehouse, joining the same security and loss prevention team. Song Limei's husband had previously been laid off from a coal mine in their hometown of Hegang, Heilongjiang, prompting the entire family to seek livelihood in Xinjiang. When joining, what she valued most was JD Logistics' commitment to providing "five insurances and one fund" to frontline employees. She still remembers that in the early years, the company would issue paper pay slips. Seeing that pension, medical, work injury, unemployment, maternity insurance, and housing provident fund were all included, she knew "life had more hope."

**Frontline Work Ensuring Safety**

With equipment operations, forklifts moving about, and conveyor belts humming, Chen Huaxiang and Song Limei began their new careers in the logistics warehouse. The work of logistics security and loss prevention staff is far more professional and complex than simply "standing guard." They must maintain campus security and order while conducting daily inspections of forklifts, ground equipment, assembly lines, and other equipment and operational processes, promptly identifying and addressing potential hazards to prevent losses and accidents.

Frontline loss prevention work requires attention to detail and a strong sense of responsibility. Chen Huaxiang possessed both qualities and was willing to learn and work hard. With her determined spirit, she became the loss prevention team leader within two years. Song Limei also became a "role model" among her fellow northeasterners. "Many people envied me and often asked if JD Logistics was still hiring." She even referred two northeastern acquaintances to work at the warehouse.

They became strong pillars for their respective families, and their lives continued to improve: they bought new cars, their children found jobs and prepared for marriage, and they were able to provide support.

**Retirement Ceremony on the Same Day**

In September 2025, both Chen Huaxiang and Song Limei reached retirement age, and the company specially arranged their retirement ceremonies on the same day. The flowers, cake, "Happy Retirement" display on the projection screen, colleagues' hugs, and reminders to "come back and visit" nearly left Chen Huaxiang speechless with emotion.

After retirement, Chen Huaxiang and Song Limei take walks together and happily await text messages confirming their pension deposits. Seeing the stable monthly payments of several thousand yuan, they began planning their happy retirement lives. Chen Huaxiang plans to travel and visit relatives with her husband in their family car. Song Limei is busy helping her son buy a new house: "With a pension, I feel confident. As parents, we help when we can."

**Taking Root in Xinjiang, Blossoming Where Planted**

The two sisters now often shop for groceries together, walk in parks, admire Song Limei's cross-stitch work, and chat about their children's concerns. They still care about JD Logistics and the logistics changes in Xinjiang. "Over these ten-plus years, package delivery speed in Xinjiang has gotten faster and faster," Chen Huaxiang says while ordering winter undergarments for family members on her phone. "Ten years ago, buying things for Xinjiang required long waits. Now, the fastest delivery can arrive in the afternoon after placing an order in the morning. More and more packages shipped to Xinjiang now include free shipping!"

Currently, JD Logistics has built 11 distribution centers and over 200 service points across various prefectures in Xinjiang, with service coverage extending to all counties throughout the region. JD Logistics employs approximately 5,000 people across Xinjiang, all receiving full five insurances and one fund benefits. In 2021, JD Logistics' Urumqi "Asia No. 1 Warehouse" smart logistics park began operations. On April 29, 2025, JD Logistics' Kashgar warehouse officially commenced operations. As logistics professionals, Chen Huaxiang proudly tells her family: "This is the first time same-day delivery has been achieved in southern Xinjiang!"

Meanwhile, many JD Logistics frontline employees like Chen Huaxiang and Song Limei have honorably retired in Xinjiang and are successfully receiving pension benefits. In March 2025, at the Urumqi Asia No. 1 Smart Industrial Park, Wang Yi, JD Logistics Xinjiang region's first retired delivery driver, held his retirement ceremony, with over fifty fleet colleagues lining up in front of red delivery trucks to offer their blessings and respect.

JD Logistics has long been an industry leader in signing formal labor contracts with all frontline employees and consistently providing "five insurances and one fund" benefits. Today, across the country, more and more frontline employees are successfully retiring from JD Logistics and receiving pension benefits. They include not only delivery personnel but also sorters, transport drivers, loss prevention staff, and other frontline positions across the nation, including Tibet, Xinjiang, Gansu, Guangxi, Guizhou, and other regions.

It is precisely these corporate policies that allow frontline workers like Chen Huaxiang and Song Limei to work with peace of mind, knowing they will have support in old age, medical care when sick, compensation for injuries, and housing security.

As night falls and Urumqi's lights sparkle brilliantly, traffic continues flowing through the logistics warehouse. Amid the music of square dancing, Chen Huaxiang and Song Limei's smiles shine brightly—their beautiful lives continue to unfold.
