On September 25, Beijing Daxing International Airport celebrated the seventh anniversary of its official opening.

Over these seven years, this landmark project of the capital has grown from a grand blueprint into a world-class hub in reality. The Daxing Airport Economic Zone, planned and constructed in tandem with the airport, spans both Beijing and Hebei Province and carries multiple national strategic missions including the Belt and Road Initiative, international exchanges, scientific and technological innovation, and the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. It has completed its leap from laying foundations to gathering momentum for takeoff.

According to the Joint Management Committee of the Daxing Airport Economic Zone, over the past seven years, the zone has completed cumulative fixed asset investment exceeding 250 billion yuan. The number of registered enterprises has grown from fewer than 1,000 at the initial stage of operations to nearly 17,000, with more than 12,000 active taxpaying entities. It has introduced over 500 key industrial projects, and five-million-square-meter-class industrial facilities have been completed and put into use. Breakthroughs have been achieved across five major areas: hub capacity, policy innovation, coordination mechanisms, industrial clusters, and urban supporting facilities. The outline of a world-class aviation city featuring industry-city integration, openness and inclusiveness, and green low-carbon development is becoming increasingly clear.

Over the past seven years, Daxing Airport has successfully completed more than 10 major state event support tasks, including the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation. It has built a route network connecting multiple countries and regions around the world. Its on-time flight departure rate ranks first among airports with over 20 million passenger throughput nationwide, making it the first domestic airport to win all six awards in the Airports Council International service quality program. In 2025, the airport's annual passenger throughput exceeded 50 million for the first time, and its international and regional route network is accelerating recovery and expansion.

A responsible person from the Joint Management Committee of the Daxing Airport Economic Zone introduced that, relying on the hub, the economic zone has built a multimodal three-dimensional transport system integrating aviation, rail, highway, and China-Europe freight trains. Currently, 72 airlines are based there, operating approximately 180 routes connecting 25 countries and reaching 39 international destinations. Intercontinental routes to Frankfurt, Helsinki, Milan, and other cities have been launched successively. The direct China-Germany route has established an efficient air logistics corridor for cross-border transportation of biomedicine and high-end equipment. Rail transit provides 19-minute access to Xiongan Station, 19-minute access to Beijing Caoqiao, and 40-minute direct access to Tianjin West Station, turning the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei one-hour traffic circle from a blueprint into daily reality. A number of cross-boundary roads including the Airport North Line Expressway have been completed, and the physical space of the economic zone is accelerating its integration.

In August 2026, the China-Europe Freight Train Service Center was officially launched in the Daxing Airport Comprehensive Bonded Zone. With the dual-hub linkage of airport and land port, the first batch of 110 tons of goods made in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region achieved single declaration and single release for direct shipment to Moscow. The 1.64-kilometer zone-port connecting corridor seamlessly links the airport port with the comprehensive bonded zone, with a one-way transit time of only 3 minutes and cargo customs clearance efficiency improved by more than 10 times. Connecting the world by air and Eurasia by land, a two-way opening corridor converges here, shortening customs clearance time and bringing the world closer to the airport economic zone.

Traffic is truly being converted into incremental growth. According to the report, in 2025, the import and export value of the economic zone exceeded 10 billion yuan, cargo and mail throughput increased by 6% year-on-year, and total import and export volume grew by 56% year-on-year, with both growth rates outperforming the average levels of Beijing and Hebei. From a single airport to an aviation city, the economic zone is converting hub traffic into development momentum.
