Former factory gets a new look: industrial heritage becomes a holiday hotspot

During the National Day holiday, many visitors made special trips to the Yunduo Yizhan area behind the Taohuashan Scenic Area in our county, stopping to take photos and commemorate the site of an old state-owned cement plant nestled among the mountains.

The plant's towering old brick kiln chimney stands as the most striking landmark of this former site. After decades of wind, rain, and the passage of time, the red slogans still preserved on the chimney remain clear and vigorous in their brushstrokes — a precious mark left on the land of Lingqiu by the construction boom of the "Learn from Daqing in Industry" campaign in the last century. The quietly standing old factory buildings, the weathered brick walls, and the simple, solid stone-vaulted cave workshops are inscribed everywhere with the traces of time, silently telling the turbulent stories of the county's industrial development.

It is reported that this cement plant was Lingqiu's first state-owned cement enterprise, completed and put into operation in the 1960s and 1970s. As a long-standing backbone of the county's industrial development, it carries precious memories of Lingqiu's early industrial beginnings, growth, and striving, vividly recording the fiery production scenes of the older generation of workers overcoming difficulties and working hard to build industry, and fully demonstrating the spirit of the older generation of builders who braved hardship, strove to be first, and worked with determination. Visitors strolling through the former site immerse themselves in reading the local industrial memory hidden deep in the mountains, and deeply feel the striving spirit passed down from generation to generation of builders.

Now, after the enterprise ceased production, the local area has relied on the completely preserved industrial relics to retain the original style and texture of a northern county factory and mining site from the last century. This distinctive corner carrying the city's memory has quietly transformed amid the vicissitudes of time into Lingqiu's newest popular check-in spot during the National Day holiday.
