消息面上，特朗普表示，正在着手推动抵押贷款巨头房利美（Fannie Mae）和房地美（Freddie Mac）重新上市，政府将继续维持对它们的隐性担保和监管。
特朗普周二晚间在Truth Social社交媒体平台发帖称：“我正在着手推动这两家杰出企业重新上市，但我想明确，美国政府将维持隐性担保，作为总统，我将坚守对它们的监管立场。”
这两家2008年金融危机后被政府接管的机构在抵押贷款支持证券市场扮演关键角色，并已经恢复稳定盈利。上周特朗普表示他正在考虑让它们上市，这两家公司在场外交易的股票应声大涨。
结束对房利美和房地美的接管可能为对冲基金等投资者以及政府自身带来巨额收益。但批评者警告称该决定存在风险，尤其是政府对这两家公司将保留多大程度的担保。目前房利美和房地美的债券因政府背书被视为最安全资产之一，有力支撑着抵押贷款证券市场。
联邦住房金融局局长普尔特今年2月份曾强调，结束接管需“审慎规划”，以确保住房市场稳定并且抵押贷款利率不受冲击。
