Former U.S. President Donald Trump has made new comments regarding Iran's uranium enrichment. Additionally, reports indicate an understanding has been reached between the U.S. and Iran concerning the unfreezing of assets. There are also reports of U.S. military strikes against Iran.

In early trading, gold and silver prices moved lower. At the time of reporting, gold was down 0.37%, while silver fell 0.71%.

In the oil market, WTI crude opened higher and was up 0.7% at the time of reporting.

According to reports from U.S. media on the evening of May 25 (Eastern Time), a spokesperson for U.S. Central Command stated that to protect U.S. forces from Iranian threats, the U.S. military conducted "self-defense strikes" in southern Iran. The targets included missile launch sites and Iranian vessels attempting to lay mines. The spokesperson added that U.S. Central Command, while continuing to defend its forces, would maintain restraint during the current ceasefire period.

Separately, a source familiar with the talks of a high-level Iranian delegation in Doha, Qatar, stated that through Qatari mediation, the U.S. and Iran have reached an understanding regarding Iran's frozen financial assets. The source suggested it is "highly likely" an agreement will be announced on the 26th, given the critical importance of the frozen assets issue for Iran.

On May 25, former President Trump posted on social media, stating that Iran's enriched uranium could be "destroyed on site" or at "another acceptable location."

Also on May 25, regarding Trump's call for Saudi Arabia and other nations to sign the "Abraham Accords" and normalize relations with Israel before a U.S.-Iran deal is reached, a Saudi source indicated that Saudi Arabia's position remains unchanged. The source reiterated Saudi Arabia's longstanding stance that its position on the Palestinian issue is firm, emphasizing the need for an "irreversible path to Palestinian statehood." Saudi Arabia has consistently stated that normalization with Israel cannot proceed without the establishment of a Palestinian state.

In his social media post, Trump urged Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, and Pakistan—countries involved in mediating U.S.-Iran talks—to "immediately" join the Abraham Accords, suggesting Saudi Arabia and Qatar should take the lead. He added that if a U.S.-Iran deal is reached, Iran should also join the accords. The Abraham Accords are agreements signed between the Israeli government and Arab states like the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco, aimed at rapidly normalizing Israel's relations with Arab nations. Prior to the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in October 2023, the U.S. had been pushing for Saudi-Israeli normalization, which Saudi Arabia subsequently paused.

Regarding Iran, reports on May 26 indicated three explosions were heard in the port city of Bandar Abbas in southern Iran. Iranian sources later reported a large-scale explosion at the port. Subsequently, Iranian authorities stated the situation in Bandar Abbas was under control and an investigation was underway to determine the cause.

Ebrahim Azizi, head of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, commented after a meeting with the commander of Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Command, stating, "Undoubtedly, if the enemies of the Iranian nation make a mistake, our armed forces, which are on the highest alert, will respond."
