On the afternoon of November 7, Senior Colonel Jiang Bin, Deputy Director of the Ministry of National Defense's Information Bureau and spokesperson, addressed recent military-related issues.
When asked about Taiwan's Army commissioning ceremony for M1A2T tanks and Lai Ching-te's claim that strengthening Taiwan's defense capabilities is meant to safeguard cross-strait peace, Jiang responded: "Pro-independence forces in Taiwan are well aware of the military balance across the strait. Their high-profile posturing is merely an attempt to embolden themselves while deceiving the Taiwanese public."
He emphasized that the People's Liberation Army's determination and capability to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity cannot be challenged by Taiwan's display of U.S.-made weapons. "No resistance from pro-independence forces can halt the unstoppable tide of history," Jiang stated.
The spokesperson issued a stern warning to Lai Ching-te and his ilk: "Seeking independence by force is a dead end. True peace for Taiwan can only be achieved by abandoning all separatist schemes and embracing the historical trend of reunification."
