Huaneng Jiangsu Clean Energy has announced that on September 20, the Huaneng Rudong R12 offshore photovoltaic 550MW project successfully obtained filing approval.
This project is located in the same sea area as the already operational Rudong 700MW offshore wind farm.
In June 2026, the Nantong Municipal Development and Reform Commission published the allocation results for the city's first batch of "wind-solar co-located" offshore photovoltaic projects, and Huaneng Jiangsu Company successfully secured the development rights for the Rudong R12 project, with an installed capacity of 550,000 kilowatts, a planned investment of 3 billion yuan, and a site selected within the Huaneng Rudong H12 site area. After the project is put into operation, it is expected to generate an annual output value of 300 million yuan.
This project is the largest single-capacity project in this allocation round and is currently the largest single "wind-solar co-located" offshore photovoltaic project in the entire province.
The project company, Huaneng Jiangsu Clean Energy Branch, was established in November 2010 and is a branch of Huaneng Power International, Inc. in Jiangsu, affiliated with China Huaneng Group.
With this, Huaneng Jiangsu Clean Energy Branch's total planned and operational capacity in the Rudong area has reached 1,560MW.
After the project is completed, the total capacity in the Nantong area will exceed 2,960MW, and the company's total scale will reach 6,070MW.
