A landmark building named "Canal Sky" reaching 249.9 meters in height will soon be topped out along the Grand Canal in the Tongzhou District. The project is part of the Canal Business District’s accelerated development plan, which aims to complete an additional 250,000 square meters of construction this year.

According to Wang Zheng, Secretary of the Canal Business District Party Working Committee and Director of the Management Committee, 11 key projects have been assigned dedicated task forces to resolve bottlenecks and speed up construction. In addition to Canal Sky, the Oceanwide Leti Port office building has also passed final inspection and is ready for corporate tenants.

Infrastructure improvements are also advancing. To ease parking congestion, four temporary parking areas have been set up near Beiguan and North Canal West subway stations, providing 4,000 non-motorized vehicle spaces. Two smart P+R (Park and Ride) facilities integrating parking, transfer, and landscaping are under construction and expected to open this year, adding over 4,100 parking spaces.

Road construction is progressing steadily, with nearly 80% of the 66 planned roads in the district already completed. The North Ring underground tunnel has opened to traffic. An intelligent navigation system with 20 integrated signboards has been installed to improve wayfinding.

On the industry front, the district has attracted 75 key enterprises this year, including firms in technology and low-carbon sectors such as Lanhai Huaye and Zhongtan Kegong. Newly registered capital reached 363 million yuan, with 18 companies already operating onsite and 11,000 square meters of office space newly leased or sold.

Tax revenue in the business district reached 6.96 billion yuan in 2025, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%, and is projected to hit 7.5 billion yuan in 2026. Wang Zheng emphasized that the district will continue to enhance construction speed and urban quality, strengthening its role as an economic engine for Beijing’s sub-center.
