Guangdong Province has announced a significant increase in its minimum wage standards, set to take effect on September 1, 2026. The adjustment, outlined in a notice from the provincial government, will raise both monthly and hourly minimum wages across the region.

The new wage structure divides the province into three tiers. In the first tier, Shenzhen will see its monthly minimum wage rise to 2,700 yuan, while Guangzhou will reach 2,680 yuan. Both cities will also implement a non-full-time hourly minimum wage of 25.4 yuan per hour.

The second tier, set at 2,300 yuan per month, applies to cities including Zhuhai, Foshan, Dongguan, and Zhongshan. The corresponding hourly minimum wage for non-full-time workers in these areas will be 21.9 yuan per hour.

For the third tier, the monthly minimum wage will be 2,040 yuan, covering a broader group of cities such as Shantou, Shaoguan, Heyuan, Meizhou, Huizhou, Shanwei, Jiangmen, Yangjiang, Zhanjiang, Maoming, Zhaoqing, Qingyuan, Chaozhou, Jieyang, and Yunfu. The non-full-time hourly minimum wage in this tier will be 20.2 yuan per hour.
