On November 21, Hecla Mining announced the launch of its HL series of fully domestically produced high-end AI chips.
The HL100 AI chip features large capacity, high energy efficiency, complete domestic production, and low total cost, while maintaining compatibility with the CUDA ecosystem, delivering robust training and inference capabilities. Moving forward, Hecla Mining's CPU, AI, and SoC chip series will integrate performance and security at a high level, laying a solid foundation for data security.
Shen Changxiang, Chief Scientist of Hecla Mining and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, emphasized the importance of adhering to national cybersecurity laws, strategies, and regulatory requirements to strengthen the foundation of China's cyber power. Advancing national cyberspace security strategy necessitates reinforcing cybersecurity fundamentals.
Wang Jiacheng, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Hecla Mining, highlighted that chips have become a strategic focal point in global technological and economic competition, impacting both technological leadership and national security. As a technology firm specializing in fully domestic CPUs and AI chips, Hecla Mining continues to tackle core technological challenges. In June this year, the company successfully taped out a high-performance, domestically produced AI chip using local manufacturing processes.
He stated that Hecla Mining will persistently push the boundaries of AI computing efficiency and cost-effectiveness, promoting widespread adoption of accessible computing and large-scale AI applications. Currently, the company has deployed over 30 models across six product series in multiple provinces, municipalities, and central government agencies, establishing a comprehensive "chip + hardware + solutions" industrial ecosystem. By integrating Shenwei technology, RISC-V architecture, security and trust technologies, and its 167 patented chip innovations, Hecla Mining develops, manufactures, and sells autonomous products, including AI chips, CPUs, SoCs, and various hardware, while offering integrated computing, intelligent computing, storage-computing, and supercomputing services and solutions.
Hecla Mining also revealed plans for three future generations of HL series chips—HL200, HL200Pro, and HL400AI—which will natively support FP8/FP4, rivaling international mainstream AI chips in performance and fully meeting next-generation generative AI training and inference demands.
