Market Closure Announced: 10-Day Trading Halt Confirmed

Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing stock exchanges have officially released the trading schedule for the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays in 2026. The announcement, made on September 17, confirms a combined closure period that will see markets paused for ten days across the two holidays.

For the Mid-Autumn Festival, trading will be suspended from Friday, September 25 through Sunday, September 27. Normal trading operations will resume on Monday, September 28. During the National Day holiday, the markets will be closed from Thursday, October 1 through Wednesday, October 7, with trading set to recommence on Thursday, October 8. Additionally, Sunday, September 20 and Saturday, October 10 will be regular weekend closures.

For investors utilizing the Stock Connect program, Hong Kong stock connect services will be unavailable during the Mid-Autumn Festival from September 25 to September 27, resuming on September 28. Similarly, during the National Day period, Hong Kong stock connect services will be suspended from October 1 through October 7, restarting on October 8. The weekend closures on September 20 and October 10 also apply to these services.

The exchanges have clarified that all clearing and settlement matters during the holiday period will be handled according to the arrangements made by the China Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation Limited. To ensure smooth trading operations after the break, the Beijing Stock Exchange has scheduled a system integration test for Tuesday, October 6, from 9:15 AM to 12:00 PM.
