Qingdao Port Launches Another Direct Service to U.S. West Coast, Adding 13 International Routes This Year

On the evening of May 20th, the vessel "Bin Chun" set sail from the automated terminal of Shandong Ports' Qingdao Port, carrying 1,643 TEUs of cargo such as aluminum can stock and towels, bound directly for ports on the U.S. West Coast including Los Angeles and Oakland. This marks the official launch and commencement of regular operations for a new direct shipping route from the port to the U.S. West Coast. Xiu Fangqiang, the General Manager Assistant of Qingdao Port Automated Terminal, stated that this new direct U.S. West Coast route is the 13th international route and the second U.S. route opened by the port in 2026. It further strengthens the "maritime expressway" connecting China with the U.S. West Coast market, injecting robust momentum into stabilizing foreign trade and ensuring smooth logistics. The route is primarily operated by Wan Hai Lines on a weekly basis, with Qingdao Port as a fixed port of call. The point-to-point direct service significantly reduces transshipment links, further enhancing Qingdao Port's trans-Pacific route network and improving its direct service capabilities to the U.S. West Coast. This provides enterprises with more stable shipping space and more efficient logistics channels, with average weekly export volume maintained at around 1,600 TEUs. Qingdao Port is the largest foreign trade port in Northern China. Since the beginning of this year, the port has accelerated the expansion of its shipping network, with the 13 newly added international routes covering key economic and trade regions including Southeast Asia and Africa. Currently, the port operates nearly 240 international shipping routes, ranking first among Northern Chinese ports, and is connected to over 700 ports in more than 180 countries and regions worldwide.
