Wilmar International announced on Oct, 30 2025 that the General Manager of its Indonesian subsidiary, P.T. Duta Sugar International (DSI), has been convicted by the Central Jakarta District Court for unlawful raw-sugar importation in 2016.

The executive received a four-year prison term and a fine of about 0.02 million Singapore dollars. The Court also forfeited a security deposit of roughly 3.4 million Singapore dollars that DSI had lodged with the Indonesian Attorney General, treating it as restitution for the company’s share of the country’s alleged losses, which authorities had earlier estimated at around 49 million Singapore dollars across nine sugar producers.

Wilmar said it respects the verdict but noted that the outcome differs from the discontinued case against Indonesia’s former Trade Minister, whose directions the nine producers had followed. The group added that DSI will continue to support its General Manager and his family.
