随着越来越多托运人将货物从卡车运输转向铁路，多家货运铁路公司的营收实现增长，带动相关个股集体走高。联合太平洋（Union Pacific）、CSX运输（CSX Corp）以及诺福克南方（Norfolk Southern）的股价均出现大幅上涨。
在美国，卡车司机数量的持续下滑推高了公路货运成本，迫使许多托运人将部分货物转向性价比更高的铁路运输。特朗普政府进一步收紧了针对移民的商业驾照发放规则，包括加强对英语语言能力要求的执行力度。
“我们对当前需求前景非常乐观，”联合太平洋执行副总裁肯尼·罗杰斯（Kenny Rogers）在一次财报电话会议中表示。
财报显示，联合太平洋第二季度运营收入同比增长12%，CSX运输增长10%，诺福克南方则录得11%的增幅。
相比之下，诺福克南方与联合太平洋的股价涨幅超过CSX运输。这两家公司正积极推动监管机构批准其价值715亿美元的合并计划。本周三晚间，联合太平洋宣布与加拿大国家铁路公司（Canadian National Railway）达成协议，促使后者撤回对该合并交易的反对意见。
