A new Wi-Fi self-service internet zone has recently been launched in the international departure area of Daxing Airport. This bar-style service area is equipped with comfortable seating and high-performance office computers, allowing passengers to use the internet for free after completing real-name verification. "This place is a real lifesaver!" exclaimed one passenger who had just finished urgent work. In this super-hub handling over 50 million passenger trips annually, Daxing Airport's Wi-Fi is quietly and seamlessly turning the vision of "enjoyable travel for all" into reality, weaving a picture of a more pleasant journey for passengers.
Ensuring Seamless Connectivity with High Efficiency and Unobtrusive Upgrades
Wi-Fi has become integrated into daily life, and at Daxing Airport, public network access is a fundamental expectation for travelers. Supporting this demand is an invisible "web" woven from over a thousand wireless access points (APs), covering every corner of the terminal building spanning more than 700,000 square meters. Passengers can connect to the network anytime, anywhere, using one of four methods: mobile phone number, WeChat mini-program, ticket number authentication, or document login. Statistics show that in 2025, Daxing Airport's Wi-Fi served a cumulative total of 4.22 million passengers, averaging about 13,000 daily users, with a peak of 16,000 simultaneous users during the summer travel rush. "For passengers, the WeChat mini-program authentication is the most convenient. They simply open the connection page to complete it easily. One authentication is valid for up to six months, with no need for repeated operations during that period," explained Yang Yihui, a manager from Daxing Airport's Information Management Department. Arriving international passengers can connect via document login, eliminating the need to activate international roaming, supporting offline operation, and not relying on ticket kiosks. Last November, new online entry declaration measures for foreigners from the National Immigration Administration were officially implemented. To actively implement national policy and make customs clearance faster and smoother, Daxing Airport specifically optimized network signals in the terminal's arrival areas, ensuring every international passenger can promptly connect to declare entry information online, achieving an online declaration rate ranking among the top nationally. The airport also added a guidance module on the authentication page to effectively speed up the online declaration process. Thanks to policy guidance and network technology support, the average queuing time for international passengers has been reduced by 15 minutes, with the convenient clearance experience leaving a positive first impression.
Guaranteeing Fast Connection Speeds with Dual Monitoring and Precise Control
In such a vast space with dense crowds and equipment, network lag can easily occur, causing disruptions to passenger travel and even equipment operation. To address these issues, Daxing Airport established a dual monitoring and precise bandwidth control mechanism, locking signal strength in key areas at "full bars," allowing passengers to enjoy a stable, high-speed wireless network. "Through on-site inspections and backend data analysis, we achieve closed-loop management for problem discovery, rapid resolution, review analysis, and optimization," stated Yang Yihui. In the terminal, maintenance personnel arrive with the morning rush of passengers daily, conducting on-site tests at 29 key points, completing a thorough inspection cycle every 20 days to promptly identify and resolve network issues. At the ITC Information Center building, personnel dynamically adjust network configurations based on real-time operational status and flight schedules to predict network load, proactively avoiding congestion risks during peak times. Given the pronounced tidal patterns of passenger flow in the terminal, Daxing Airport, drawing on traffic management experience, innovatively implemented a "lane-style" precise bandwidth control mechanism. On average, each passenger enjoys 13M of bandwidth, equivalent to having a dedicated "network line." During the peak summer travel period from July to August each year, Daxing Airport further increases bandwidth capacity by 20%, calmly meeting the connectivity demands of the passenger surge. "Using Daxing Airport's Wi-Fi for a video conference, the video was very smooth with no lag issues," said Mr. Wang, who was in a meeting in a silent office pod. ACI satisfaction survey data shows that Daxing Airport's Wi-Fi satisfaction score has consistently maintained a perfect 5 out of 5 over the past two years, with its service level receiving passenger praise.
Delivering Excellent Connectivity with Considerate Service and Diverse Scenarios
Driven by the pursuit of passenger service value, Daxing Airport continuously focuses on the entire travel journey, expanding the service scope of airport Wi-Fi to truly meet passenger needs. "With the rapid growth of international passenger traffic, we found that some international passengers had difficulty finding or connecting to the airport Wi-Fi," mentioned Yang Fan, a manager from Daxing Airport's Terminal Management Department. To address this, Daxing Airport added Russian, Japanese, and Korean language versions to cover more passengers from key source regions. The airport also posted Wi-Fi guidance signs at key points like terminal entrances/exits, check-in areas, and international arrival areas, displayed usage guides on flight information screens, and provided clear guidance for passengers. Simultaneously, specialized training ensures frontline staff can proficiently assist passengers with the connection process. This thoughtfulness is also evident in quick ticket change and refund services. Leveraging the Wi-Fi network, Daxing Airport enables real-time connectivity and zero-delay data synchronization for its change/refund system. Staff can quickly process changes and refunds for passengers at 17 locations, including boarding gates, mixed-flow areas, and baggage claim halls, increasing processing capacity by 50% per hour. Furthermore, passengers can smoothly use airline apps on their phones connected to the airport Wi-Fi to complete automatic rebooking or general changes/refunds. Daxing Airport's Wi-Fi is also innovatively applied in consumption scenarios. "I really didn't expect to get a coupon!" said Ms. Zhang, waiting for her flight at Daxing Airport. After successfully connecting to Wi-Fi, the page redirected to Daxing Airport's "Xing Xian Song" platform, where she was accurately targeted with exclusive dining and shopping offers. This heartwarming value-added service not only brings pleasant surprises and savings to passengers but also opens new avenues for Daxing Airport to explore converting traffic into incremental value, further stimulating travel-related consumption.
A "full-signal" Wi-Fi network not only makes the flow of every piece of information smoother but also enables more possibilities with every service interaction. Daxing Airport remains committed to its founding principle of "civil aviation for the people," continuously upgrading network hardware and software facilities and optimizing management measures to deliver an even better travel experience for passengers.
