Johnson & Johnson announced on the 21st that its drug nipocalimab, for the treatment of generalized myasthenia gravis, has been officially approved by the China National Medical Products Administration. The drug is indicated for patients aged 12 and older.

Generalized myasthenia gravis is an immune-related neuromuscular disorder, with clinical manifestations primarily including skeletal muscle weakness in areas such as the eyes, mouth, throat, and limbs. Public information indicates that Johnson & Johnson acquired the core pipeline for this drug in 2020 through the $6.5 billion acquisition of Momenta. Previously, the drug had already received approval for marketing in several overseas markets, including the United States, Brazil, and Japan. The industry widely expects this drug to possess significant market potential and is anticipated to bring substantial revenue growth for the company.

Currently, Johnson & Johnson has not responded regarding the specific pricing and market launch timeline for this drug in China. In the current Chinese pharmaceutical market, treatments for generalized myasthenia gravis developed by companies including Hansoh Pharma, Zai Lab, and Argenx have already been approved for marketing.
