Market sentiment improved after the U.S. Senate passed a procedural motion late on November 9 with a 60-40 vote, paving the way to end the longest government shutdown in history. The Senate has adjourned until Monday, with the final vote timing yet to be determined. The bill still requires House approval before being sent to President Trump for signing.

Upon returning to the White House on November 9, Trump told reporters, "It looks like we’re very close to ending the shutdown."
