Goldman Sachs BDC (GSBD) saw its stock price plummet 5.18% during intraday trading on Friday, following the release of its challenging first-quarter 2026 financial results.
The business development company reported a swing to a loss of $0.12 per share for Q1 FY26, compared to profitability in previous periods. Net investment income per share fell to $0.22 from $0.37 in the prior quarter, while total investment income declined to $78.8 million from $86.1 million. The company's net asset value per share dropped 3.7% to $12.17.
Goldman Sachs BDC missed analyst expectations, reporting adjusted earnings per share of $0.22 compared to the $0.29 consensus estimate, and sales of $78.793 million versus the $82.844 million forecast. This represents a 46.34% decrease in earnings and an 18.72% decline in sales compared to the same period last year.
