Qingdao Hi-Tech Moulds & Plastics Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Hi-Tech Moulds") has signed a joint development agreement with China Mobile Communications Group Shandong Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "China Mobile") to collaborate on an artificial intelligence (AI) project for mold manufacturing. This strategic partnership aims to integrate AI across the entire lifecycle of mold development—from R&D and pilot testing to production, marketing, and operations—by optimizing model architecture, collecting design cases, and pre-training AI systems. The initiative seeks to shorten project cycles, reduce costs, and enhance competitiveness, marking a significant step in AI-driven industrial transformation for the automotive mold sector.
Under the agreement, the two parties will cooperate in six key areas: expert support, product development, priority tasks, R&D direction, commercialization, and application scaling. By pooling resources, they aim to advance AI theories and core technologies, accelerate the establishment of an AI model system for mold manufacturing, and position the project as a national-level innovation platform. Additionally, the collaboration will promote AI adoption in the mold and plastics industry, support Qingdao’s AI industrial cluster development, and strengthen China’s global leadership in industrial AI.
As a leading domestic automotive injection mold manufacturer, Hi-Tech Moulds has over two decades of expertise in design, production, and application scenarios, backed by extensive high-quality design data and practical cases. By the first half of 2025, the company held 105 patents, including 31 inventions and 74 utility models, with breakthroughs in dual-color molding, low-pressure injection, insert molding, and high-speed multi-cavity mold technologies.
China Mobile Shandong brings its strengths in AI R&D, computing networks, platform development, and industry-academia integration, supported by the technical capabilities of China Mobile’s Jiutian Research Institute and Qilu Innovation Institute. This partnership combines Hi-Tech Moulds’ industry experience with China Mobile’s technological prowess to explore deeper AI integration in mold design and manufacturing.
The collaboration follows Hi-Tech Moulds’ recent strategic agreement with Wanhua Chemical and ENGEL in Düsseldorf, Germany, on October 10, 2025, further solidifying its commitment to advanced production technologies and AI-driven innovation.
