Recently, the National Mass Sports Advanced Units and Individuals Commendation Conference was held in Guangzhou. According to the Baoji Sports Bureau, the city has been honored with six units receiving the National Mass Sports Advanced Unit award and five individuals recognized as National Mass Sports Advanced Individuals.
In recent years, Baoji has actively promoted mass sports by organizing diverse sporting events to encourage public fitness and enrich community sports life. In 2024 alone, the city hosted over 700 events, including the Shaanxi Provincial Mass Sports Five-Level League, Baoji’s First Public Fitness Competition, community sports meets, 3x3 basketball tournaments, and table tennis competitions, attracting 450,000 participants. The event count ranked third in the province, while participation topped the provincial list.
Under the initiative to improve public fitness infrastructure, Baoji secured 58.58 million yuan in provincial and national funding to upgrade fitness facilities in eight villages and nine communities. Additionally, 11 sports parks, fitness trails, and stadiums across five counties underwent renovations to enhance public sports facilities.
This year, Baoji expanded its efforts by organizing the Mass Sports Five-Level League, Public Fitness Competitions, and community sports meets, encouraging widespread participation. The city also supported county-level associations in hosting distinctive fitness events, fostering a "one-county-one-feature, one-association-one-brand" model.
At the national commendation conference, the General Administration of Sport honored 3,182 units and 2,356 individuals for their contributions to mass sports and event organization. In Baoji, six units—including the Jintai District Education and Sports Bureau, Chencang District Sports Management Center, and county-level education and sports bureaus—were recognized as National Mass Sports Advanced Units for 2021–2024. Five individuals, such as Chen Baoqing (Director of Qianyang County Sports Management Center) and Liu Jia (General Manager of Baoji Ruiteng Sports Club), received National Mass Sports Advanced Individual awards.
Baoji’s excellence in mass sports was also acknowledged at the provincial level. In May, the Shaanxi Sports Bureau commended outstanding organizers and participants of the 2024 "Public Fitness, Active Sanqin" event series. Seven Baoji units were lauded for league organization and participation, two families and two individuals received excellence awards, and seven communities were recognized for outstanding event coordination.
