Reports suggest that Baidu has internally initiated a project codenamed "Project O" close to the Lunar New Year holiday. According to sources familiar with the matter, the plan is related to the Baidu App. Previous media reports indicate that the monthly active user count for Wenxin Assistant, a feature within the Baidu App, has surpassed 200 million. This positions it, alongside Doubao and Qianwen, as one of China's three major AI platforms with user bases exceeding 100 million. Baidu was also an early participant in the Lunar New Year AI marketing competition, having previously allocated a 500 million yuan red envelope campaign and secured the title of Chief AI Partner for the "2026 Beijing Radio and Television Spring Festival Gala." While competitors in the industry often focus their holiday strategies on standalone applications, Baidu's continued development, including the potential "Project O," appears to remain centered on its core Baidu App, underscoring its ongoing importance as Baidu's primary AI gateway.
