Morgan Stanley has implemented a series of changes to the leadership of its European investment banking business, a move that comes as merger and acquisition activity in the region is anticipated to surge significantly. An internal memo revealed that the US-based bank has appointed William Bertagna as the Deputy Head of Investment Banking for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Bertagna will succeed Martin Grebner, who, alongside Markus Fimpel, has been selected to lead the bank's European, Middle Eastern, and African industrial group. Karsten Hofacker, who previously led the regional industrial group, will transition to the role of Head of Financial Sponsor M&A for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. A spokesperson for Morgan Stanley confirmed the contents of the memo.
