Deep News
Sep 06

The oral segment of the 2026 second-half College English Test (CET-SET) is scheduled for November 21-22, while the written portion (CET) will take place on December 12. The Yunnan Provincial Admissions and Examinations Institute released the official registration guidelines for the province on September 4.

Here are the essential details for exam registration, eligibility, and scheduling.

Exams and Timetable

The oral test occurs over two days: November 21 for CET-SET4 and November 22 for CET-SET6. For the written test on December 12, the English CET-4 runs in the morning, followed by CET-6 in the afternoon.

Who Can Register

For the written test, candidates must be currently enrolled undergraduate or associate degree students at full-time regular or adult higher education institutions, or registered graduate students. Those who have completed the college English band 4 course can sign up for CET-4, while CET-6 registration requires completion of the band 6 course and a CET-4 score of at least 425 points.

Registering for the oral test requires completing the corresponding written exam registration first. Specifically, candidates must register for CET-4 written before applying for CET-SET-4, and CET-6 written before applying for CET-SET-6. Oral test participants should apply at their written test location and are generally not permitted to register across different schools.

Registration Timing and Process

The online registration window opens from September 10, 2026, at 8:00 AM and closes on September 21 at 6:00 PM. Individual testing sites will announce their specific registration periods within this overall timeframe.

All registrations must be completed online. Candidates need to create an account on the online system, verify their eligibility, confirm personal details, select the language and level, and complete payment. If seats are fully booked, applicants can join a waitlist, which will automatically fill any vacancies or added spots in sequence. Candidates should monitor waitlist updates closely; successful applicants must complete payment promptly, while unsuccessful ones will not receive further notice.

Detailed Exam Schedule and Admission Tickets

The written exam takes place on December 12, and the oral exams are set for specific sessions: CET-SET-4 on November 21 (session F263) and CET-SET-6 on November 22 (session S264). Admission tickets must be printed by candidates themselves online. Oral exam tickets are available from November 17 at 9:00 AM, and written exam tickets from December 1 at 9:00 AM.

Results and Score Reports

In line with green energy and environmental sustainability initiatives and to advance the digital transformation of educational testing, paper score reports will no longer be issued starting from the first half of 2026. Instead, candidates can access and download their electronic score reports from the China National Education Examinations Authority website ten working days after results are released. Electronic reports hold the same official validity as the previous paper versions.
