EAST BUY (01797) fell more than 6% in trading, with a decline of 5.78% to HK$20.2 at the time of writing, recording a turnover of HK$183 million. The drop follows Yu Minhong's confirmation on November 6 via his personal social media that Sun Dongxu has left the company. Public records show Sun's last appearance was during EAST BUY's Tibet-themed livestream on April 19 this year. Notably, rumors of Sun's departure had surfaced in August, which EAST BUY denied via an official Weibo post, stating he was on leave and had not resigned.

In December 2023, amid the "mini-essay" controversy, EAST BUY announced that Yu Minhong, the chairman, would concurrently serve as CEO, replacing Sun Dongxu, effective immediately. Sun was removed from his roles as executive director and CEO.
