On October 16, a financial news flash reported that the Global Wealth Management Forum 2026 Shanghai Suhewan Conference was held in Shanghai from October 16 to 17, 2026, bringing together leaders from the global wealth management industry.
Xiong Yan, Chairman of Guofu Capital, attended the conference and delivered a speech in which he noted that artificial intelligence and large models represent a technological breakthrough, but not a breakthrough in the ordinary sense — it is a general-purpose technology breakthrough.
He explained that general-purpose technologies roughly have three characteristics.
First, they are widely used. It is not a single technology within a vertical industry; nearly all industries will be rebuilt, rewritten and redone by 人工智能 (Artificial Intelligence), though the depth of change and the timing differ.
Second, they substantially reduce costs, increase efficiency and improve productivity, with order-of-magnitude differences appearing in many fields.
Third, they bring new scenarios and new demand. Many technologies, especially general-purpose ones of this kind, bring not only growth in transaction sales and market share within their own industry, but also new market increments.
Xiong Yan said that the agents that emerged this year — proactive task-based agents represented by Lobster — have achieved breakthroughs and real-world deployment, bringing one of the most immediate changes: transforming the logical paradigm and structure of knowledge production.
In the past, knowledge and information production was the product of the human brain; today, all knowledge production is done by the human brain together with intelligence, with the human brain still doing some of it, but more of it being done by large models.
In Xiong Yan's view, the knowledge production paradigm going forward will be dominated by the intelligent brain.
Knowledge production falls into two categories: creative knowledge production and non-creative knowledge production. In the field of non-creative knowledge production, the human brain and intelligence are already no longer on the same order of magnitude.
Xiong Yan pointed out that the vast majority of financial scenarios involve non-creative knowledge production and exchange, which is why finance is the sector most easily disrupted and rebuilt by this round of AI large models and agents.
Xiong Yan expects that in roughly 5 to 10 years, about 50% of today's financial practitioners should be replaced by large models. In the past, all financial transactions were transactions between people; going forward, a large number of financial transactions will be transactions between people and, more importantly, transactions between agents and agents.
Xiong Yan said the real contradiction is that the capabilities of AI large models and agents are exploding rapidly, while preparations in concepts, thinking and especially risk control across all aspects remain insufficient — and it is under this contradictory structure that today's discussion has its particular value.
