Anthropic PBC is scheduled to meet with potential investors on October 14 local time as it prepares for its initial public offering, according to people familiar with the matter, as the company pushes ahead with a potential blockbuster listing even amid scrutiny over artificial intelligence safety.
Invitations for the event were only recently sent out, and a select group of institutional investors will have the opportunity to question company executives, the people said. One of the people said the event will be held at the company's headquarters in San Francisco. The timing would put the Claude developer on track for an expected November listing.
According to earlier reports, Anthropic could begin its formal IPO roadshow as early as the week of November 9, potentially starting trading before Thanksgiving. The people cautioned that IPO details could still change and asked not to be identified because the information is not public. A spokesperson for Anthropic declined to comment.
While Anthropic's Claude does not have the brand recognition of rival OpenAI's ChatGPT, its strong adoption among enterprise users such as software developers is expected to deliver the steady revenue growth many professional investors seek. Banks, hedge funds and enterprise software providers such as Salesforce (CRM.US) have partnered with Anthropic to integrate its tools into their workflows.
OpenAI, meanwhile, has delayed its IPO plans amid strengthening sales momentum in recent months. Bloomberg News previously reported that the company is seeking to raise at least $30 billion from investors in a new funding round at a valuation of about $1.4 trillion. Investors see a fair valuation for Anthropic at between $1.8 trillion and $2 trillion, the people said earlier. The company expects its IPO size to match or exceed that of SpaceX's offering.
Following a series of high-profile hacking incidents carried out by rogue agents, Anthropic and OpenAI are facing growing public scrutiny, heightening concerns that Anthropic's listing could be affected.
