According to data from Omdia's "Large-Area Display Panel Market Tracker (4Q25)", the shipment volume of large-size display panels (including both LCD and OLED) is projected to reach 910.5 million units in 2025. Despite ongoing global economic uncertainties and the introduction of new US tariff policies, Omdia's latest forecast indicates that large-size display panel shipments will still grow by 2.9% year-on-year in 2025. However, this growth rate is lower than the 9.0% year-on-year increase recorded in 2024.
A Senior Chief Analyst for Omdia's Display Research Practice stated, "Omdia's latest research shows that large-size LCD panel shipments are expected to grow 2.6% year-on-year in 2025, reaching 876.8 million units. Some panel makers, particularly suppliers from South Korea and Japan, have reduced their production input for LCD TV panels during 2025 as part of business restructuring."
"Panel manufacturers outside of China have also scaled back LCD monitor production in the face of intense competition and price pressure from Chinese panel makers. Meanwhile, shipments in the 'Others' category and the Public Information Display (PID) category are also forecast to decline in 2025, as many system integrators and low-end manufacturers are based in mainland China and lack the flexibility to shift production capacity in response to US tariff issues. The persistence of global economic uncertainty also suppresses demand for 'Others' and PID display products throughout the year."
Concurrently, based on Omdia's latest preliminary data, large-size OLED panel shipments are projected to increase by 12.9% year-on-year in 2025, reaching approximately 33.7 million units. OLED shipments for monitors and notebook PCs are expected to grow by 69.3% and 26.8% year-on-year, respectively. In contrast, OLED TV panel shipments are forecast to increase by only 1.5% year-on-year during the same period.
South Korean OLED manufacturers continue to shift their strategic focus away from OLED TV displays towards monitor OLED, which offers better financial returns. Meanwhile, with rising demand for OLED in the notebook PC market and the planned mass production of new-generation 8.6th-generation IT OLED production lines starting from 2026 (led by Samsung Display and BOE), OLED panel makers are intensifying their focus on notebook OLED in 2025 to expand their business scale.
Regarding the supplier landscape for large-size LCD panel shipments in 2025, BOE is expected to rank first with a 36.2% share, followed by TCL China Star with 16.4% and Innolux with 11.7%. In the large-size OLED shipment segment, Samsung Display is projected to maintain its leading position with a 50.9% share, with LG Display in second place at 31.8%, followed by EverDisplay Optronics with 14.8%. Looking at the overall large-size display panel (LCD + OLED) shipments, BOE is expected to rank first with a 35.0% share, followed by TCL China Star with 15.8% and Innolux with 11.3%.
