China's Ministry of Finance and the Macau Special Administrative Region government jointly announced today that the central government will issue 6 billion yuan in sovereign bonds in Macau on August 20, 2026.

2026 marks the first year of the national "15th Five-Year Plan." This will be the fifth consecutive year that the central government issues renminbi-denominated sovereign bonds in Macau, underscoring strong support from Beijing for Macau's moderate economic diversification and the enhancement of its specialized financial industry's competitiveness.

The maturity structure of this bond issuance is set to be more diversified, which will help further refine the regular issuance mechanism. It will offer investors more safe and stable renminbi investment options, playing a positive role in continuously improving the Macau bond market ecosystem and promoting connectivity between Macau, mainland China, and international markets.
