法院认定麦格理证券在2018年3月至2021年10月期间，未能准确上报逾87万笔卖空交易的关键数据。这些违规操作涉及交易日期、数量及证券代码等核心信息，严重影响了市场透明度。
此次判罚创下澳大利亚针对卖空违规行为的最高金额纪录。监管机构强调，准确的市场数据是维护金融体系稳定的基石，任何机构不得以操作复杂性为由规避报告义务。
麦格理证券已接受法院裁决，并表示将全面升级其合规系统。该罚金需在30日内缴付，部分资金将定向用于澳大利亚资本市场诚信建设项目。
